Klook – My Choice for Booking Japan City Passes, Tickets & Transport

Book tickets with Klook

I use Klook in Japan the most. From theme park tickets, bus and rail passes, to must-do experiences (and for the most part, at a discount), you’ll find it all here.

Find Klook-exclusive activities and tours for Japan

It’s super convenient for securing spots in advance, and oftentimes, it’s cheaper than buying on the official websites.

I’ve mainly used Klook to grab digital e-tickets for top attractions and activities such as Universal Studios / Super Nintendo Japan (—this one SAVED me because the official website wouldn’t process the same entry timeslots as my sister’s), teamLab Borderless, and even night-before baseball tickets to watch professional baseball in Tokyo (even though the stadium ticketing website showed sold out).

Shinkansen/rail passes are also super easy to grab and go with step-by-step instructions in English on how to use them downloaded to your email (and saved in your Klook account).

Viator – Best for Japan Experiences, Food & Biking Tours

Book experiences with Viator

When I want to get first-hand look into the local Japanese culture, Viator is my go-to for food, biking, and immersive experiences with expert guides.

I always find great biking and food tours on Viator, led by locals!

It’s great for discovering tours I wouldn’t have found on my own (like this Kintsugi workshop with Master Taku in Tokyo!).

For example, in Kyoto, I booked an awesome e-biking tour through the backstreets and hidden shrines and also this epic samurai katana sword experience.

And in Tokyo, I watched an entertaining sumo show—which became a core memory!

If you love meeting new people and experiencing Japan in a hands-on way, Viator is a good booking platform for finding options.

This Samurai/katana wielding experience in Kyoto was awesome!

GetYourGuide – Best for Last-Minute & Skip-the-Line Passes

Book on GetYourGuide

If you’re like me and sometimes wait until the last minute to book, GetYourGuide often has a solution. They usually have instant confirmations and free cancellations on many experiences, so I can keep my plans flexible.

I’ve used GetYourGuide for fast-track tickets to Tokyo Skytree and guided experiences where I wanted a little extra insight.

It’s also great for first-time travelers to Japan who want to keep an open schedule or hop into group tours and day trips.
